HOTEL FACILITIES & SERVICES: Koh Samui. Thailand's southern paradise island - the third largest in the country - lies in the Gulf of Siam and has long been famed for its incomparable beauty as a truly tropical island. Chaweng Beach, with its silver-white powder-fine sand and crystal-clear blue water, is one of the best beaches in the world. Poppies lies on the best part, where there is no coral under the water - just pure sand.
Water Sports. Water skiing, windsurfing, sailing, and many other activities are available along the beach. Fishing, Snorkeling and Scubadiving. Samui offers you a choice of trips for fishing, snorkeling and scubadiving from a half day to as long as 3 days - we will be happy to provide you with details and prices. Marine National Park. North-west of Koh Samui is the Angthong Marine National Park consisting of 47 islands. Visiting the park is a full day excursion.
Inland. Koh Samui is an island of coconut palms - about 2,5 million of them. For sightseeing Samui has much to offer - the mountainous interior conceals coffee and rubber plantations as well as tracts of untouched jungle and spectacular waterfalls. Strange rock formations abound. The most impressive landmark is the Big Buddha, a huge golden image set on a rocky peninsula jutting into the sea.
Other activities include Elephant Trekking, a visit to a Snake Farm, a Crocodile Farm, or the Butterfly Garden. You can watch trained monkeys picking coconuts, or you can go mountain biking. Poppies owns small 'jeeps' which may be rented - this is the recommended way to see the island, so bring your international drivers licence. For those who do not wish to drive themselves, Poppies offers chauffeur-driven day tours, with a picnic lunch provided by our Chef.
